“If 2022 gave us cause for optimism, that great wines can be made in a changing climate, then 2023 takes this a step further. A year of intermittent sunshine and rain provided the ideal conditions for vines up and down the Côte to produce a full crop of healthy grapes. Unusually strong bursts of heat at the end of August and into early September provided a ripening fillip for heavily laden vines, and had vignerons racing to harvest. The net result is a vintage where the best of the wines are both expressive and utterly charming, full of fruit but freshness too. They are destined to give drinkers huge amounts of pleasure over the mid-term. There is much to love in Burgundy’s bountiful and rather beautiful 2023 vintage.”
