Château Mouton Rothschild, 1er Cru Classé, Pauillac, 2017
This is everything you want from a great Mouton Rothschild - it has a flamboyant bouquet of exotic griotte, Asian spice, perfumed sloes, sweet earth, crème de mûre and liquorice. The same flavour profile cascades over the palate, there's real depth and concentration here - it's a broad, yet controlled, a stunning array of fruit is interwoven with fine mineral notes. We were impressed by how vivid and pure the fruit content is; it is delivered in a languid fashion with a freshness and nobility. The tannins are regal and befitting of a wine of this stature. They gently grip and deliver pure mineral infused fruit on the enduring finish. A thoroughly compelling and complex Mouton that has it all. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot.
