    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Earthier and more muscular than the Hauts Doix. Rich, dense but velvety. Very much a mini Bonnes-Mares. The fruit is dark and autumnal, clenched by fine-grained tannins. Clearly polished and deep but this will need time to unwind. Once coaxed out of the glass the flavours are impressively ripe and intense, framed by a wonderfully rounded tannic structure. A parcel of 80-year-old vines situated below Bonnes Mares planted on iron-rich clay soils giving full, structured wines. All fermented with whole bunches and aged in a maximum of 20% new wood.

Matured in 25% new oak and 90% whole bunches, the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers 1er Cru is the most opulent of Groffier’s 2019s with kirsch and orange zest infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a little oak to be subsumed on the entry. Good weight, quite muscular for a Chambolle with liberally sprinkled black pepper enhancing the finish. A little stocky, bottle age will smooth any jagged corners.
