Fonseca, Vintage Port, 2017
A touch more spirited on the nose with notes of warm, sun-dried strawberries and plummy fruit, leading in to damson and black cherry. Heavier set and without the suave, completeness of the Taylors perhaps, it is imbued with a darker, more hedonistic and spicy feel, with taut sinewy tannins and plenty of stuffing. Notes of balsamic and exuberant inky fruit complete the wine, making this a classic full bodied Fonseca with a long life ahead of it.
