Savigny Lès Beaune, La Dominode, 1er Cru, 2018

justerini & brooks tasting note

This contains one of the biggest whole-bunch ferment percentages at the estate, 45%, which is a new trial with this cuvée and one that seems to have worked brilliantly. One of the best, most lifted Dominodes we can remember tasting. Brilliant, shimmering fruit notes of wild berry and cherry with a savoury, undergrowth complexity. Incredibly tight-knit and gripping but with a really focused, intense core. Deep but vital, this awakens the senses. A legendary Savigny parcel of extremely old vines many of which were planted back in 1902.

critic reviews

87/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has a slightly pinched nose with red cherry and strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, yet, surprisingly, I find this a little green around the edges, a trait that I never picked up on last year. I will put a question mark against my score.
