Neal Martin, Vinous
The 2009 Fleur de Gay has a lot of concentration on the nose: thick black cherry and blueberry scents that are generous if missing a little complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy furry tannin, very tarry in the mouth with a spearmint tinged finish. You could argue that it is rather over the top although, the acidity imparts freshness. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.
