    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Château Langoa Barton, 3ème Cru Classé, St Julien, 2002

Yields were 25% lower than 2001 which in turn was smaller than the 2000 vintage, so allocations of this usually reasonably priced cru classé will be less than ever. One of the biggest structured Langoa we have ever tasted, pure blackcurrant and explosive fruit yet firm tannins.

Bright ruby-red. Aromas of raw currant, kirsch, licorice, mint and chocolate. Sweet, pure flavors of chocolate and black cherry firmed by herbal and peppery nuances and an edge of acidity. Substantial tannins come across as a bit youthfully tough, but the wine finishes with excellent length.

    Château Langoa Barton

This 3rd growth St Julien estate has been owned by the Barton family for approaching two centuries. It was purchased by Hugh Barton in 1821 and is now managed by Anthony and his daughter, Lilian. Stylistically it is rather less impressive than Leoville Barton, but in recent years it has possessed a bit more punch and longevity. It is a popular Claret in the UK and has a reputation for being well priced.
