    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

An excellent vineyard acquisition by Luigi Scavino in 2000, Voghera Brea is a fine one-hectare plot of 65-year-old vines in the Serralunga commune that will only produce Riserva wines in top vintages. Aged in large oak botti casks. A ripe sweet spice nose of liquorice, Demerara, moscavado sugar, round tight knit tannins great freshness and length, really focused vinous but minerally, hugely powerful but seamlessly so, generous, ripe fruit flavours of cherry stone, sloe, damson, plum black cherry and blueberry, undertones of cool, smooth bitter sweet dark chocolate.

    Antonio Galloni,

The 2004 Barolo Riserva Voghera Brea has blossomed into a far more beautiful wine than I could have ever imagined when it was first released. The flavors are dark, bold and richly expressive, with plenty of Serralunga volume, but also considerable aromatic presence, all nicely balanced by precise tannins. A huge, resonant finish laced with the essence of rose petals, mint and sweet red berries adds to the wine's considerable appeal. The Riserva spent 42 months in Slavonian and Austrian oak casks.
