    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
    Fratelli Alessandria, Barolo, 2013

85 percent of the fruit comes from the Verduno commune with the rest being young vines Gramolere. A slightly shorter maceration than the Cru wines but with the same three years ageing in large casks, the 2013 Barolo is bright suave and supple. The sensual satin-like texture supports the open, plump and juicy fruit – predominantly fresh and aromatic red berry and loganberry flavours. Its beauty, composure and elegance point clearly to the Verduno style.

Fratelli Alessandria's 2013 Barolo is fabulous. Scents of orange peel, cardamom, dried flowers, mint and dried cherries give the 2013 a decidedly exotic flavor profile that will only gain in sweetness and perfume as the wine ages. Mid-weight structure gives the wine considerable appeal, but readers who can cellar the 2013 will be in for a treat. Alessandria's straight Barolo remains one of the most fairly priced wines in all of Piedmont. Don't miss it.

    Fratelli Alessandria

An historic Verduno estate that dates back as far as the 8th century. A true family affair Vittore Alessandria, his mother Flavia, father Gian Battista & uncle Ale have been working hard in recent years to give more precision to their charming wines: more leaves, fewer treatments in the vineyards, along with the investment into a battery of Swiss coopered Slavonian oak botti have all helped to give increased focus to the wines. Made in a traditional and non-interventionist way, the wines are fermented gently and slowly before elevage in large oak cask for three years. These are some of the aromatic, elegant and charming Barolos you’ll find.
