    Piero Busso, Barbaresco, Albesani-Borgese, 2015

A burst of heady summer fruits hits you on the nose. The palate is equally fruity. A exploding grenade of juicy sweet red berries, wild strawberry and raspberry mainly, encompasses the palate. A tannic grip adds some crunch and structure to the hedonistic fruit. A south west facing vineyard of 280 metres planted on sandy white limestone soils, originally planted by Pierguido's grandfather in 1948. Ageing is in 25 hl casks for 26 months.

The 2018 Barbaresco Albesani Vigna Bordini is a big, sturdy wine. It offers up copious red cherry, pomegranate, rose petal, kirsch, spice and mint. The Vigna Bordini is decidedly heady in 2018, with its elevated alcohol quite evident. It will be interesting to see if this comes together more fully in time.
