Clos Fourtet has been making some very fine wines from the limestone plateau recently. We like the respectful winemaking and light touch. The 2015 is by no means the largest or most impressive St Emilion; it is built on graceful lines with beautiful balance, harmony and sleek attractive fruit. It is very seductive with its loganberry, graphite and cooked meats bouquet that leads on to a smoky, earthy, cassis filled palate. The pure fruit flavours cling to the tannins and coat the mouth.

The 2015 Clos Fourtet was picked between September 18 and October 12 at 42 hl/ha. This has an entrancing bouquet with ebullient red cherries, raspberry and allspice, hints of cedar manifesting in the background. Very harmonious and focused aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, wonderful poise and a judicious dash of spice towards the energetic finish. What an outstanding Clos Fourtet. Tasted at the Clos Fourtet vertical in April 2023.
