Tasting Note:

Francis Egly’s Grand Cru Brut is so much more than your average Brut Sans Année the comparison seems almost trite. Following almost a year of elevage, exclusively in barrel, Francois eschews any fining or filtration, have allowed the wines to settle and clarify naturally. Disgorgement comes after 48 months sur lie, before bottling with just 3g of dosage. Rich, creamy, bright golden fruit aromas flood the nose, pungent cane fruit and golden citrus. raspberry, peach, ripe gooseberry and touches of the early morning bakery. On the palate this is a cuvee that combines energy and concentration, with a caressing generous and well-mannered mouse and a relaxed sense of mouth space in which you find pithy citrus and golden autumn berries. A wine of great presence and a terrific NV cuvee. This particular bottling represents a blend of 50% 2014, 20% 2013, 20% 2012, and 10% 2011, and is as usual composed from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. It was disgorged in July 2019.
