    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Sumptuous but defined and taut, there is a lacy, airy quality to this as well as high-wire tension. A little more substance than usual, but keeping the cool, vivid profile it usually displays, exhibiting flavours of stone, red berry and mineral that skip briskly across the palate. A little known but wonderful parcel of 70-year-old vines within Amoureuses that faces east. Fermented with 50% whole bunches and aged in a maximum of 25% new oak.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru has quite a generous bouquet. A little more warmth percolates through the dark cherry fruit, but I find more mineralité as it opens. It clams up a little in the glass, but I can see more personality and restraint developing. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins. Perhaps the fruit here is just a little too sweet for my liking, so the finish has a small shortfall in tension and comes across as a bit heady. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
