San Simone

The town of Porcia lies in the heart of Friuli Venezia-Giulia’s Friuli DOC Grave viticultural area, where the Cantina San Simone lies. The Brisotto family have been owners for four generations, named the estate after a small 14th-century church opposite their original winemaking facility, now the site of the family home. The Brisotto family, motivated by their conviction that good winemaking begins in the vineyard, invests a considerable proportion of its resources in its vineyards, supporting viticultural practices based on low yields, achieved through a high number of vines per hectare/acre and lower number of buds per vine. Investment in their very modern winery (from temp controlled steel vats to their own top of the range glass washing and bottling machine) is designed to give them complete control of production and make the most of the high quality fruit at their disposal. They fully capitalise on the clay limestone soils and cool, long ripening season of Friuli’s prime Grave DOC zone, making affordable, vivacious, well-balanced wines of clear varietal character.
