Bouvet-Ladubay

Established in 1851, Bouvet-Ladubay is one of the Loire Valley’s most historic and highly regarded sparkling wine houses. Based in Saumur, this family-founded estate has built a reputation for crafting refined, méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines that offer exceptional value and elegance.

The house specialises in Crémant de Loire, working primarily with Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. These classic Loire varieties thrive in Saumur’s limestone-rich soils and benefit from the region’s cool climate, which preserves acidity and freshness—crucial components in the production of balanced, age-worthy sparkling wines.

Every cuvée is produced using the traditional method, with the second fermentation taking place in bottle, mirroring the approach used in Champagne. The wines are then matured in Bouvet-Ladubay’s extensive network of underground tuffeau stone cellars, which offer ideal conditions for ageing and lend a distinct finesse to the finished wines.

Bouvet-Ladubay's white Crémants are vibrant and crisp, often showing notes of orchard fruit, citrus, and fresh florals, while the rosés, led by Cabernet Franc, are delicate and expressive, with wild strawberry and redcurrant characters.

Today, Bouvet-Ladubay stands as a benchmark for quality sparkling wine in the Loire. Their commitment to craftsmanship, terroir expression, and accessibility makes them a popular choice for those seeking Champagne-style complexity without the Champagne price tag.

Whether enjoyed as an apéritif or paired with lighter dishes, Bouvet-Ladubay’s wines offer an excellent introduction to the sparkling wines of the Loire Valley.
