Affordable, top-quality Napa Cabernet is a rare find in today’s market, but Band of Vintners’ Consortium delivers just that — with style, character, and a price point that defies expectations.
This project was born out of friendship and a shared belief that Napa Cabernet doesn’t have to come with an eye-watering price tag. A group of seven Napa-based friends — each with decades of experience across viticulture, winemaking, and the fine wine trade — began as a casual tasting group, meeting informally to share bottles, discuss vintages, and learn from one another. Over time, that shared passion evolved into something far more ambitious: a collaborative winemaking venture designed to harness their collective knowledge and deep-rooted connections.
Pooling their talents and resources, they secured access to high-quality, sustainably-farmed fruit from prime vineyard sites across Napa Valley — though the specific sources remain deliberately under wraps. What is clear, however, is the calibre of the fruit and the refined touch of those behind the scenes. The team includes the likes of Stéphane Vivier, winemaker at Hyde de Villaine and Vivier Wines; Dan Petroski, known for his work at Larkmead and his own label Massican; Mark Porembski, the talent behind Zeitgeist and Anomaly; Barret Anderson of Jackson Family Wines; Jason Heller, Master Sommelier with stints at Harlan Estate and Promontory; Cameron Hobel, owner of Hobel Wines; and Brennan Anderson, Partner and VP at Folio Fine Wine Partners. Collectively, they bring over four decades of Napa Valley know-how to the table.
The result is a wine of generosity and balance — full of ripe blackberries, polished structure, and the unmistakable charm of Napa Cabernet. The style is bold yet easygoing, with gentle, unobtrusive winemaking that allows the fruit to shine. It’s drinking beautifully now, but has the depth and structure to age gracefully over the next four to seven years. As Elin McCoy of Bloomberg aptly notes, “it compares with Napa Cabs selling for twice the price.”
Band of Vintners captures everything we love about modern Napa Valley: community, craft, and outstanding value.
