Felton Road 2022

Though this is technically their entry-level, it benefits from exactly the same care and attention as their top wines, being an assemblage of the estate’s single vineyards, a blend that is decided very late in the process - from barrel, not at the point of harvest. Juicy, floral and fresh, the 2022 is awash with silky cherry, Victoria plum and damson fruit; expressive and exuding an easy-going vibe, this nonetheless feels sophisticated and stylish. It may not have rocket-science level complexity, but it does deliver pure drinking pleasure. As much as this can be kept for a couple of years, don’t hesitate to start drinking it this summer, ever so slightly chilled; it is enjoyable alfresco either on its own, or is serious enough to comfortably stand up to barbecued meats.
