Bonnes Mares, Grand Cru, 2015

justerini & brooks tasting note

More muscular than the Clos de Bèze but great class and verve nonetheless. Layered, complex and with a toned power. Bright red fruit flavours shimmer through the cinnamon spice and undergrowth characteristics. Sophisticated and persistant. The first impression offers a mere glimpse of the greatness to come, with second and third tastes the full spectrum of flavours start to build. Mighty and noble from two parcels in the Morey commune, one of which is next to Clos de Tart, giving quite a generous, rich and voluptuous style of Bonnes-Mares. One part was planted in 1946 another in 1980.

critic reviews

97/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2015 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has another very pure, elegant bouquet, firmly in red rather than black fruit territory and quite lush and sensual - one of the most seductive you will find this year. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and perfectly pitched acidity; it feels supple at first, though the second half has a more chalky texture and the red fruit merges with more black fruit. Gaining structure toward the oaky finish, it exerts firm grip and sports stupendous length. Wonderful. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
