Imposing, broad and mouthfilling. Incredible force. Big velvety dark berry fruit, notes of sloe, herb and undergrowth with hints of Victoria Plum. No holds barred Burgundy. Drouhin-Larozes’s parcel of Clos de Vougeot is particularly well situated and it shows in the wine; their 1ha of vines is spread over two lieux-dits in the northwestern corner of the vineyard, ‘Plante l’Abbé’ and ‘Quartier de Marei Haut’, in the sector called ‘des Papes’ - owing to the factor the produce from this sector was reserved for the Popes of Avignon. Fermented with 40% whole bunches.
