Soave Classico

The historic heartland of Soave is Soave Classico; a much smaller, hillier region within the broader Soave appellation. Like so many Italian regions, Soave was expanded beyond its natural zone of production and a “Classico” region had to be defined to showcase the original, superior zone of production. Garganega is the grape variety that reigns supreme here, occasionally supplemented with Chardonnay and/or Trebbiano di Soave. However, the best producers tend to focus on old-vine Garganega with some, like Gini, owning vineyards with pre-phylloxeric vines still producing fruit of incredible quality.
