Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru, 2021
This is fleshy and full, with lovely sleek fruit, gentle nuttiness and more weight and overt concentration than the Folatieres. A totally different set of dimensions, its Grand Cru status signified more by its depth than its length. Salt and earth and a concentrated richness. Just one single barrel was produced in ’21.
critic reviews
The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet with Golden Delicious, fresh pear, grilled walnuts and a touch of smoke coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with lime and orange cordial on the entry, a little toasty in style with a heavy reduction on the finish. This is quite tricky to read at the moment.
