Pommard, Vieilles Vignes, 2018

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Being a genuine old vines cuvee, half of which were planted in the 1950s, this offers incredible class and depth for a village level wine. A blend of three single vineyards, this is a cuvee strongly influenced by limestone soils - evidenced by its refined, streamlined and slightly chalky fruit profile. An elegant, Volnay-esque Pommard.

The 2018 Pommard Vieilles Vignes is a blend of Les Cras, Vignots and Chagnères and represents the domaine’s largest cuvée, each parcel vinified separately. Apparently picking dates can vary by several days here. This has a very attractive red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with light chalky aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, what you might call a "transparent" Pommard, and more Beaune-like in style, leading to a fresh and quite persistent finish. Fine.
