Pommard, Vieilles Vignes, 2019

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

As sensual and velvety as Pommard can be. Gorgeous rich, ripe griotte and damson fruit. A warming background note of cherry liqueur provides a little sunshine and an undertow of earth adding complexity. Yet far from being too sweet and soft, there is crunch and vitality to this as well. Beautifully alluring, sunny but fresh, light-touch Pommard. A vertiable old vines cuvee - half of the parcel was planted in the 1950s, the rest in the 1980s.

The 2019 Pommard Vieilles Vignes is a blend of Les Cras, Les Vignots and La Chanière. It has a well-defined and quite earthy bouquet of red berry fruit. The palate is well balanced with crunchy red berry fruit laced with a splash of balsamic. The parcels ripened at different times due to variations in microclimates, and that engenders a more complex Pommard. Fine salinity toward the finish, and a minerally aftertaste. Very fine.
