Nuits St Georges, Clos des Porrets, 1er Cru, 2020
This offers that typically dark, dense but polished Clos des Porrets fruit. Bramble and black cherries with a liquorice spice note. Richer than usual but not without energy or balance. There are a lot of tannins here but extremely velvety, noble ones. A 3.7 hectares Monopole of Domaine Gouges; long-lived, always one of the more classic, muscular style Nuits of the region.
critic reviews
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a rather baked nose that is missing some freshness; perhaps a little Brettanomyces here? There are hints of saddle leather. This deteriorates in the glass. The palate is very sweet with plush black fruit on the entry, but it lacks finesse and feels leaden and hot on the pruney finish. The 2020 oxidizes in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
