Tasting Note:

The Bricco Fiasco is a relatively sandy plot at the top of the Fiasco hill in Castiglione Falletto, planted with 70 year old vines. Contrary to the regular Barolo the wine is aged in oak barriques, but only 15% new wood, again to limit oak influence - a direction Azelia have been going in for some years now. This sandy soil gives incredibly aromatic and fruity characteristics to the wine. The 2011 is packed with red cherry and strawberry flavours with notes of kirsch and sweet spice. Intensely gripping and sweet at the same time alongside a gentle freshness. Alluring and intensely aromatic.
