Barolo, Cannubi, 2006
In the hands of Enrico Scavino, the outstanding vineyard of the Barolo commune, Cannubi, produces the perfect compromise between power and elegance. This is one of the finest, most showy Cannubis I have tasted after merely a year in bottle, it has real wow factor, sleek focused and enormously charming, sweet ripe but tight knit fruit, a very intense, finely poised but incredibly sensual wine, this is all about texture, bright red berry fruits, hints of morello and dark chocolate, wonderful loganberry and bramble fruit along with strong scents of Asian spice.
critic reviews
Scavino's 2006 Barolo Cannubi opens with an attractive, finely-knit bouquet that leads to an open, soft core of perfumed fruit. Rich, and expansive on the palate, this textured, vivid Barolo reveals terrific length on the palate and finessed tannins that inform the silky finish. Though medium in body, the wine packs plenty of punch and is almost certain to put on weight in the bottle.
