    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

The Granite Chenin opens up with beautiful floral, rocky violet aromas, stone fruit and ripe waxy lemons. Creamy and full bodied with lovely generous fleshy fruit on the mid palate finishing with flint, yellow fruit and white honey on the finish. Clear, sumptuous and inviting. Sourced from vines planted on decomposed, friable granite on the Paardeberg mountain. Completely dry farmed giving a phenolic edge to finish that serves to add freshness, combined with 20-30 year old vines raised in neutral 500L French casks for 11 months before bottling.

    Neal Martin,

The 2018 Granite Chenin Blanc comes from 42-year-old vines on the Paarderberg. The bouquet offers lime, orange zest and honeysuckle on the nose, plus a touch of watermelon in the background. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, and quite saline in the mouth. It tightens up on the finish, where I would like to see a little more terroir expression. Cellar this for three or four years.
