Richer, stronger and more mineral power than Fruhlingspatzchen, with a hint of tannin, very intense indeed, ripe citrus rind, apricot, dried peach and honey flavours. The Halenberg has distinctive blue slate / quartzite soils and is incredibly steep, yielding wines of great minerality, firmness and longevity. Frank Schoenleber finished his harvest the 17th October, a week later there was rain. The grapes came into the winery were in perfect healty, ripe, concentrated and very clean. The Dry wines are intense and big "like 2009" Frank says adding that "conditions was also perfect for very pure late harvest wines."

Pale golden-yellow. Unctuous aromas of yellow plum, honeysuckle and cinnamon complicated by hints of spicy botrytis. Musky peach jam and a subtle minerality animate the palate. The dense, juicy, very long finish is marked by a refined spiciness. There were few ausleses of this class in 2011.
