Barbaresco, Costa Russi, 2016

Tasting Note:

Aromatic, fruity and floral. Very expressive indeed. Bold and forward with mouth-filling sweet red fruis enveloping the palate with a gripping tannic structure. The wine finishes on scented notes of dried rose and fruit blossom. At the foot of the same hill as Sori Tildin, at 230 metres altitude and facing south west. The vines are 65 years old and are planted on the most clay influenced soils of all Gaja's Barbaresco Crus. Usually these are the last grapes to be harvested. Fermentation and maceration is for 3 weeks followed by 24 months in oak barrels - one year in tonneaux and one year in large casks.
