Tasting Note:

Very aromatic. More tobacco leaf, hay, star anise and menthol, a little hint of cherry too. Very intense, lots of fresh black cherry on the attack developing into tapenade and leather. Fine but quite firm tannins. Very long. Tremendous power. The most structured and long lived of Gaja’s Barbarescos. Gaja’s first single vineyard, 1967 its debut vintage. The vines are old and the slopes are south-facing.
