Côte Rôtie, Côte Blonde, 2021

Tasting Note:

A wine of nobility in every sense, the 2021 Côte Blonde is densely woven and introverted, but a bit of concentration and aeration reveals the most elaborate layers of purple fruit, spices and stones. So long and seductive but with all the requisite power and focus to age for decades. Magical. A plot of 45-year-old vines planted on whiter, more limestone soils than the La Landonne, giving a stricter style of wine, but with finer-cut tannins and shape. Fermented with 80% whole bunches and aged in large demi-muid casks, a maximum of 10% of which are new.
