Chenin Blanc, Swartland, 2018

Tasting Note:

Beautiful clear cut flavours of white peach, stones and fragile wild herbs carry this understated, subtly spiced Swartland Chenin Blanc. Dry-farmed bush vines sourced from two Swartland sites, the first a decomposed Granite vineyard in the Paardeberg, bringing a fine grained minerality and freshness, the second from iron rich red soils just outside of Malmesbury which adds weight, fruit and texture. In the cellar, the wines were spontaneously fermented and aged in neutral barrels for 10 months before blending and bottling. An outstanding debut, made all the more impressive by the fact that this hails from 2018, one of the smallest, driest and hottest vintages on record. Just 1,300 bottles produced.
