Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, 2018

Tasting Note:

Rich, compressed, dark berry fruit mixed with notes of sweet spice, vanilla pod and Christmas cake. Rich, thick-set and velvety, there is plenty of flesh on its bones but the tannic structure is noble and well-rounded. Drouhin-Laroze's parcel of Clos de Vougeot is particularly well situated and it shows in the wine; their 1ha of vines is spread over two lieux dits in the north-western corner of the vineyard, "Plante l'Abbé” and "Quartier de Marei Haut”, in the sector called "des Papes" – named for the fact that the produce from this sector was reserved for the Popes of Avignon. Fully destalked.
