    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Shiny black in appearance with a narrow, vibrant rim. Immediately deep and serious on the nose, reticent yet visibly complex, with aromas of riverbed pebbles, herbs and minerals, tense and angular in profile with a softening edge of gentle smoke; on second tasting ripe blackcurrant and hedgerow flowers abound. On the palate this is streets ahead of the La Mission, with soaring high-tone fruit and piercing acidity, loaded with ripe cassis, red berries and very fine tannins. Great balance here, serious weight, long and structured on the finish, polished and elegant. A blend of 43% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Cabernet Franc.

Bright ruby-red. Pure but youthfully inexpressive nose hints at raspberry and tobacco after extended aeration. Sweet, suave and pliant, with a silky texture perked up by minerality and lifted by a spicy component. Really lovely consistent ripeness here, showing neither roasted nor green qualities. Took on a more floral character with air. This superbly elegant wine really saturates the palate and lingers. Tannins are fine and sweet.
