    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Always the most tightly coiled of the Clusel Roch's Cuvees and the most structured and profound. This is packed with brooding dark ripe fruits, notes of earth and stone too, handsome but it clearly needs plenty of time in bottle to mature. Finely chiselled tannins provide a solid foundation for the complex layers of fruit. A Cote Rotie for the long term . Grandes Places is a fabulous, single vineyard in the Verenay commune planted with 75-year-old ‘Serrine’ vines, which is the traditional Syrah of Ampuis. The wine is aged for 24 months in 30% new oak and is bottled without filtration.

Vivid purple. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, allspice and potpourri, backed by smoky mineral and licorice notes. Concentrated, expansive blackberry and bitter cherry flavors become spicier and livelier with air, picking up a minerally nuance that adds back-end cut. Sappy and alluringly sweet on the strikingly long, fruit-driven finish, which shows excellent intensity and broad, velvety tannins. This bottling has become more refined in recent years and has been showing much more fruit-forward appeal than it did a decade ago.
