    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Full, dense with a monumental depth and structure. Complex and brooding flavours of earth, limestone, mulled spices, bramble, cassis and cherry, with sappier touches of cedar wood and richer truffle notes. Profound and serious, this will reward several years of cellaring. The same cask ageing as the regular Cru Barolos with extra time in bottle, this Riserva Barolo is a blend of wine from the Capalot and Brunate vineyards that average 50 years old. Bottled up exclusively in magnum, circa 1000 magnums are produced.

The 2006 Barolo Riserva Vecchie Viti dei Capalot e delle Brunate (magnum) is a dark, sensual beauty. Ripe fruit, violets, licorice, menthol and pine are some of the nuances that are woven into the frame of this rich, expansive Barolo. The wine reveals tons of depth and dimension, but then shuts down rather quickly in the glass. The 2006 Barolo Vecchie Viti dei Capalot e delle Brunate is one of the more imposing wines in this line up of 2006 Barolos, but it is pure magic in a glass.
