    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Good value Pomerol is hard to come by, but thankfully Denis Durantou's Petite Eglise (the second wine of Eglise Clinet) is fabulous and offers Merlot fans a real-deal Pomerol at a very sensible price. This is heady, floral, with notes of cloves, minerals, herbs and rich, searing bright cherry fruit. Plumy, voluptuous, concentrated, this has ample backbone, racy acidity, fine tannins and one is left with pure loganberries on the finish.

    Neal Martin,

The 2009 La Petite Église has a well defined bouquet that offers red and black fruit in equal measure, hints of tar and black truffle developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well judged acidity, quite cohesive with raspberry and crushed strawberry towards the fleshy finish. Enjoy this over the next six to eight years. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.
