    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Stephane’s Cote Rotie is a blend of a number of parcels across the appellation, Tupin, Cote de Brune, Cote Blonde and Cote Rosiers. The grapes from Cote Blonde were all de-stalked whereas those from Brune and old vines from Cote Rosiers, up to 30% of the stalks are kept. The wine is aged in, largely, used oak barriques for 18 months though the Cote Brune portion receives up to 30% new oak ageing. The colour is a deep but vibrant crimson with tinges of scarlet the nose suggests a smooth ripe and seductive wine with an underlying hint of Rhone spice complexity, that is exactly what the palate delivers too. This is a fragrant-fruited, elegant wine with backbone. Fresh juicy and refined, the red berry, currant and red cherry are interspersed with bursts of white pepper, coal dust and mineral, the flavours simply dance across the palate. Strong but super-refined.

Inky purple. Cassis, candied cherry and red berry skin aromas are lifted by an intense floral note. Supple and appealingly sweet, with spicecake and floral nuances adding complexity to the sappy red berry flavors. Youthfully taut but very pure. Finishes very long, with silky, harmonious tannins and lingering flavors of red fruits and licorice pastille.
