    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
    Fratelli Alessandria, Barolo, Monvigliero, 2015

Great finesse, clean and clear flavours. Gently spiced notes of caraway and fresh flowers. So finely poised and such energetic fruit with a minerally, mouthwatering savoury quality. Delicate, fine boned but intense and persistent. The white chalk and sand soils, the sun-blanched amphitheatre in which it sits and its proximity to the river make this one of the great and most distinctive Crus of Barolo.

The 2016 Barolo Monvigliero is a total knock-out. A burst of sweet red berry fruit, mint, pine and red berry fruit give the Monvigliero its effusive aromatic presence. A Barolo of tremendous pedigree, the Alessandria’s Monvigliero is sure to put a smile on the face of Piedmont lovers. Although it is very young, the 2016 is off the charts gorgeous. It is everything first rate Barolo can and should be. The 2016 is to die for. Don’t miss it.

    Fratelli Alessandria

An historic Verduno estate that dates back as far as the 8th century. A true family affair Vittore Alessandria, his mother Flavia, father Gian Battista & uncle Ale have been working hard in recent years to give more precision to their charming wines: more leaves, fewer treatments in the vineyards, along with the investment into a battery of Swiss coopered Slavonian oak botti have all helped to give increased focus to the wines. Made in a traditional and non-interventionist way, the wines are fermented gently and slowly before elevage in large oak cask for three years. These are some of the aromatic, elegant and charming Barolos you’ll find.
