    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

As ever the real braun of these cellars, crunchy black fruit, spicy notes and hints of coffee bean, this is robust and has great depth of flavour.

Inviting scents of plum and truffle come across as fresh for a 15-year-old bottle. Not hugely fleshy but still plump in the middle in the context of the vintage--and more primary than a majority of the wines I tasted for this report. Plum and spice flavors dominate today and carry well on the finish, where the firm tannins arrive late to dust the palate. In a very lively style, this premier cru can be enjoyed now but barely tastes like a mature wine. For his part, Bertrand Chevillon pointed out that the 2001s were hard to taste at the beginning but have rounded out.
