    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Aalto, made by Vega Sicilia legend Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini, comes exclusively from 100% Tinto Fino vines aged between 30 to 90 years old. The grapes are hand harvested into small containers, after fermentation the wines are aged for 23 months, on average, in 50% new French barrels and 50% one to two year old barrels. 2005 was a dry early year characterised by strong day/night temperature differences in September (up to 25 degrees!) leading to fully mature, healthy grapes of great aromatic fruit intensity. This is packed with dense, creamy ripe crushed fruits, notes of bramble, blackcurrant, strawberry, plum with clove and cinnamon spice notes. Extremely stylish Ribera.

Opaque purple color. Intensely perfumed nose displays spicy dark berry and floral character, with zesty minerals and black tea adding complexity. Pliant blackberry and cherry flavors are impressively fresh, becoming deeper and sweeter with air. An admirably balanced wine, playing depth against vivacity and finishing with outstanding clarity and length. This is the most elegant example of this bottling I've tasted.
