    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

The 2000 Le Dome is one of the great vintages from this estate. It is a monolithic, dense, complex offering that has taken years to open and will doubtless require considerably more time to display its full potential. Notes of camphor, bell pepper, roast meats, boysenberry, graphite and sumptuous cassis emerge from the bouquet. On the palate one is struck by the sheer concentration and mass of fruit. It perhaps doesn’t have the same focus and precision as the splendid 2005, but what it lacks in that respect it more than makes up for with its enormous display of power and lashings of tantalising fruit. The oak is fully integrated, as are the wonderful tannins, which means this is ready to enjoy, although those with further patience will certainly be rewarded.

Deep red-ruby. Very ripe but fresh aromas of redcurrant, minerals, tobacco and coffee. Sweet, supple and deep, with rich, musky flavors of dark berries, chocolate, mocha and espresso. Youthfully muscular, slowly unfolding wine, with good primary fruit character. Finishes with firm but fine tannins that will require at least five or six years of additional bottle aging.
