    Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
A 100% limestone wine, from a vintage that emphasies the limestone to the point of austerity sometimes, but this manages to walk lightly through the palate, with chalky tannins, cool but creamy blueberry puree, and rose petal aromatics as it opens. Reflects the character of the plot. 40% aged in tank, the rest in neutral one year old barrels. Can drink now and for next five to 10 years. This is the last year of 100% Merlot in this wine, before addition of Cabernet Franc in 2022. Harvest September 17 to October 19, 47hl/h yield.

The 2021 Mondot comes from the newly purchased vineyards, not permitted to be absorbed into the Grand Vin until the next classification. It has a fragrant bouquet with red cherry, strawberry pastille and just a touch of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly chocolate-tinged entry, quite spicy and chalky toward the finish. Fine.
