    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

One of the few cuvées that Drouhin decided to ferment with some whole bunches and aged in a larger proportion of new oak than the other 1er Crus (45%), yet this is neither heavy nor oaky. Long, ripe and voluptuous but not lacking in vitality, showing really lush berry fruit, silky tannins, ripe notes of sloe and griotte, spritzy mineral notes, and is corpulent but not over the top; beautifully complete.

    Stephen Tanzer,

(14% natural alcohol) Medium red. Pungently spicy nose shows a slightly resiny character and substantial oak to go with the raspberry fruit. Sweet and enveloping, with a lovely touch of minerality leavening the wine's fat. Seems very ripe for this cuvee, almost too much of a good thing. Finishes strong but a tad warm, with dusty tannins. This was not the only cellar where I found the 2007 Amoureuses to be a bit extreme, and lacking its usual lift. (I should note, however, that the 2006 Amoureuses also lacked high notes shortly after the bottling but is much finer and more perfumed today.)
