    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Explosive but super tight-grained almost chalky tannins that recall the great Barolos of Serralunga. This crisp, fine tannic structure is mixed with broad, sweet floral, cherry blossom and black cherry fruit with sweeter suggestions of creme de mure. Bags of mid-palate fruit and savoury complexity to melt into the tannins. Less elegant than the 2016 but full, generous and thoroughly accomplished. A plot of 45yo vines planted on whiter, more limestone soils than the La Landonne, giving a more strict style of wine but with finer-cut tannins and shape. Fermented with 100% whole bunches and aged in large demi-muid casks, a maximum of 10% of which are new.

Saturated violet. Intense dark berry, floral and exotic spice aromas pick up smoky mineral, cola and incense nuances as the wine opens up. Deep-pitched black raspberry, cherry compote and blueberry flavors reveal suggestions of candied violet and star anise. Finishes extremely long and juicy, the steadily building tannins framing lingering blue fruit and floral notes.
