    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A big step up from the charm and immediacy of the Comune, into something altogether more profound and complex. A really wonderful expression of La Serra this year, perhaps the most alluring we can remember, the 2018 gradually builds to reveal layers of wildflowers, blue fruits, spearmint and violets, with a cool seam of blackberries, bramble and fresh plums. A wine of enormous persistence and enveloping fragrancy and delight. Some may characterise this by its freshness and detail but there is no shortage of concentration here either, it’s just that the smartness of the package gives a seamless feel to the wine. This is Voerzio’s highest Barolo vineyard, situated in the commune of La Morra, at between 380 to 430 metres above sea level with great east south-east exposure. Aged for two years in a mix of big and small barrels, light toast, French oak (15, 20, 30 and 35 HL sizes for the big barrels.)
