Tasting Note:

Belair Monange, which incorporates the vineyards of Magdelaine, occupies an enviable position on the limestone Cote to the west of Chateau Ausone. We always taste this wine at the end of the JP Moueix tasting as it is so different to the style of the Pomerol range. Produced from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 displays the class of this great limestone terroir. Complex and engaging, aromas of wild cherries, tayberry and açaí are interspersed with deep mulberry and mineral notes of crushed crocks and graphite. The palate is awash with glorious fruit: plums, raspberries and cranberries. This is delicate and detailed yet there is tremendous power and complexity. Layer after layer of fruit reveals itself in a real peacock's tail of fruit covering the lacy tannins. Vibrant, long and a delight to the senses!
