    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A fabulous blend of richness and tension. More powerful than the Garenne. Initially fleshy and sweetly scented white flower and yellow fruit characteristics but as it briskly trots across the palate it tightens and reveals an intense saltiness, focusing the wine and prolonging the finish. Deep but energetic, beautifully proportioned. A class act. A south-east facing plot called ‘au Chaniot’ abutting Montrachet, in the south-east corner of Folatières, touching Cailleret and Pucelles. Here the soil is an even mix of limestone and marne clay. Aged in 20% new oak for 12 months followed by six months in tank.

    Critic Reviews

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a potent SO2 nose that feels untethered from the wine (it almost made me retch at first inhalation). The palate is muddled and sharp, lacking depth and focus. I don’t know what to make of this sample. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
