    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

The Schlossberg St Catherine always comes from the mid Slopes of the Schlossberg vineyard, from 50-60 year old vines and as such tends to offer up a glorious marriage of the elegance of the high toned higher slopes and the richness and power of straight St Catherine's lower slopes. 2011 is no disappointment. Although initially a little reticent on the nose, with air come highly defined and precise layers of salt, unwaxed lemon, verbena, cut herbs, stones and crystalline lime pith. Flooding the palate this is quietly, hauntingly, explosive. The merest touch of botrytis adds depth from another palette while the whole mouthful vibrates with an intense linear vibrancy. Absolutely spellbinding.

Bright pale green. Apple and pear, minerals and white peach on the perfumed nose. Very pure on the palate, with enamel-shattering acidity framing the intense white stone fruit, apple and mineral flavors. Offers a wonderful combination of refinement and power. Made from 40-to-60-year-old vines located in midslope of this famous grand cru.
