Tasting Note:

Here the character of the vintage is apparent, as the ’21 offers up pretty jewel-like loganberry and damsons, underpinned by fine fresh dark fruits. Brambly with a touch of tobacco and camphor, this is very good indeed. This year the use of whole bunch was limited to the Grenache (60%), the final wine a blend of 75% Grenache, 12% Cinsault, 11% Mourvèdre and 2% Syrah, emanating from the Saint Prefert lieu-dit in the Quartier des Serres. The terroir here is a mix of galet stones, gravels, blue clay and sands. The blend comprises the grapes formerly used for the Auguste Favier, Charles Giraud and Cuvée Classique blends. Ageing is in a mixture of foudres, cement and amphora.
